Shipping Guide

This guide is designed help you move your goods safely and efficiently. It is recommended that you read through the guide before requesting a quotation, as it outlines the exact information that we will require to be able to get an accurate cost.

VERY IMPORTANT: We do not offer Personal Effects shipping as we are business to business specialists.

How quickly do you need the consignment to be moved?

There are three main modes of transport. Containers (Sea), Trailers (Road) and Airfreight. As a general rule, airfreight is fastest and most expensive, and sea freight is slowest and cheapest.

For different types of container, please see containers (Click Here)

For different types of vehicle/trailer for roadfreight, please see Vehicles/Trailers

How much do you have?

To enable us to give you a price, we need to know accurate amounts.

For Airfreight: we always need the individual weights and dimensions of each piece

For Seafreight and roadfreight: If you have a large amount of goods, a trailer or container would be a good option. For different types of container, please see container types in the useful articles section

For sea or roadfreight shipments we will need the individual weights and dimensions if it is less than a full container/trailer.

Top Tip: Rates are calculated on a weight to volume ratio. Basically that means the more tightly packed your goods are, the cheaper it will be.

Where is it going from and to?

It may seem like common sense, but we do need to know exactly where the goods are to be collected from and delivered to!

To enable us to give an accurate rate, please have the collection postal / zip code and the delivery postal / zip code, as well as town name (and country!)

Top Tip: It is usually cheaper when shipping outside Europe, to collect/deliver the goods from the nearest Air/Sea port.

For some countries we are unable to offer a door to door service.

Are the goods adequately packed?

When shipping your goods, the last thing you want is for them to arrive in pieces. We can offer a full packing service, but this can be prohibitively expensive.

When packing, bear in mind what the goods may go through

When a plane takes off, lands and goes through turbulence, there is a lot of rattling and jolting that cannot be helped, and although the goods are well secured, there will always be a bit of movement.

When shipping by sea, please bear in mind what a boat goes through!:

Any insurance taken out on goods in transit will be void if the goods were found to be poorly packed.

We are happy to recommend packaging specifications, and can take care of packaging arrangements if required.

There are occasions that we may be unable to quote for a specific shipment. If that is ever the case, we will always endeavour to point you in the direction of someone that can help.
